SMA Connector
The SMA was developed in 1960, originally for semi-rigid cable with a diameter of 0.141 inches (RG-402). SMA connectors are designed for a 50-ohm impedance and operation up to 18 GHz (some precision versions can operate up to 26.5 GHz). They feature a 1/4-36 threaded connection, compact dimensions, and outstanding mechanical durability. The maximum operating frequency for cable connectors is determined by the type of cable used.
SMA connectors have a wide range of applications where size and cutoff frequency are key parameters. For radars with phased arrays, measuring equipment, instrument landing systems, and other devices utilizing phase matching, these connectors for semi-rigid coaxial cables, as well as SMA adapters (plug connectors), provide a precise and simple means of phase adjustment.

Manufactured according to MIL-C-39012, IEC 169-15, and CECC22110/111, SMA connectors are compatible with all connectors meeting these specifications and having the same diameter, regardless of the manufacturer. They are used in many microwave devices (coaxial-to-waveguide and microstrip transitions, amplifiers, attenuators, filters, mixers, signal generators, and switches).
